Lin Cui is a Professor of International Business and the Deputy Director (Research) for the Research School of Management. His research focuses on international business strategies, and business innovation and entrepreneurship, especially of emerging economy firms.
In this online presentation, he will discuss business groups in Asian emerging economies, where they are prevalent. They are typically diversified across activities and industries that may not be related, which is at odd with the economic principle of specialisation, a principle on which most successful Western enterprises are organised.
Lin will provide a snapshot on current research in the field, explaining why business groups exist and how firms affiliated with business groups behave.
